Night Owl...

Abby was up late last night...very late, so was her Mom...we are both very tired this morning, but that's what you get when you take a afternoon nap...

It was about 11:00pm and Abby came out dressed in some cute little capris and a cute little t-shirt...I asked her what she was doing and she said, (in the most matter-of-fact voice), "Well, I'm going to be tired in the morning so I figured I would go ahead and get dressed that way I can sleep longer and not have to get up so early." I told her that was pretty smart...I know I should have made her put pj's on...but figured it wasn't worth the battle...and we're very much for picking our battles! I then went on to say "Now, you know, Abby..." and she interrupted..."I know Mom...I better wake up with a happy face, I got it!"

Kids...what can you say?

By the way, Hayden was fast asleep like a good boy while all of this went on. :)

Differences..

This is one of the differences in our kids...it's 10:30 at night when these pictures were taken

One fast asleep...the other playing with her shirt to see how many different ways it could be worn--which we found out could be worn as a hood to cover her head and only show her eyes...who knew??

Blue Angels...too cool !!!

I meant to put this in before...but a few weeks ago, we got to see the Blue Angels fly from our roof top. It has to be one of the coolest things we've done. If you ever get a chance to see them do an air show we highly recommend it. It's amazing how they execute their formations perfectly and are exactly syncronized...and the tricks they do...well, I don't know how they do it but it's impressive.

We were sitting out on our roof and our neighbors came out, they heard us talking--but couldn't figure out where they were hearing it from...it was pretty funny watching them looking around trying to figure out who was talking. They finally looked up and realized the four of us was sitting on our roof. I know we're really not the smartest parents--we taught our kids how to climb out the window and get on the roof...what were we thinking????!!!!

Here's some pictures

Take me out to the ball game...

So, I thought Hayden had scored a run...but when we got home and I watched the video I realized that he'd actually been called out. (I have no idea if I'm using the right terminology by the way).

I'm sure the other parents think I'm a crazy fanatic trying to build her kids self-esteem...I scream and holler even when he gets out!!! :)

Abby has adopted this little girl as her sister (she's 3).... And this is what they do during the entire game...dance around and catch catipillars--every now and then they may look up and watch the game for a second...but that would be a stretch.

Well, that was our day...tomorrow we have a Cinderella birthday party to go to...I'm sure it will be very exciting...nails, makeup and tattoos--what more can you ask for???

I love to be right...

I think most of us like to be right...but ask James he will tell you that I love it!! And it's even better when your kids acknowledge that you're right--don't ask me why, but there's some satisfaciton to hearing those words out of your child's mouth...

This morning Hayden and I were having a disagreement over what time his school opened and since I was dropping him off he was going earlier than normal...well, Hayden does get his stubborness from me...I'll concede to that and he was bound and determined that the school doors opened at 6:30...I knew school opened at 6:45...atleast I was 99.9% sure...so I told him we'd drive by the school and check it out...so we did, drove up and the gate was open...I was thinking, "Uh-oh...I'm going to have to tell him I was wrong..." So he got out and walked up to the door...which was locked (thankfully, I WAS NOT WRONG) he turned around, head hung low, and walked back to the car...opened the door and said, "Well....I guess you were right---you're the winner, winner chicken dinner." Shut the door, buckled up and didn't say another word...I tried not to grin too big..I mean he's only 6 I didn't want to rub it in his face or anything!!

I think he likes being right just as much as I do...I think he dislikes being wrong as much as I do too...I'm sure this will prove to be a struggle between the two of us in the years to come...but for now it's just cute!

Atleast he will concede that he's wrong...Abby on the other hand will fight you until she's blue in the face even if she knows she's wrong...she will not give up--I don't know where her stubborness comes from because it surpasses mine by a long shot!!!

Welcome to our blog...

So...I've been thinking about doing this for a while...a way to keep in touch with what's going on in our family with all of ya'll spread out around the country...so here we go--a BLOG!

Well...lets get up to speed...Hayden is now 6 and Abby is 4. Hayden started kindergarten this year and that has been fun, Abby will start in the fall--it blows my mind that we will have 2 school age kids. Seems like just yesterday they were our little babies...time flies by so fast. James and I celebrate our 9 year anniversary this year...I can't believe next year it will be a DECADE since we got married. That also seems like just yesterday.

James is working for a company called Terracon...same field--environmental. He is traveling around to the state parks of TN to do different environmental fields, which works out very nice for us since we love to camp--he's scouting out new places for us to try when he's traveling to these sites. He also gets to check out the fishing in these areas--that's more of a perk for him, than me though.

I'm working for LifeWay Credit Union...same as LifeWay Christian Resources, except we are the Credit Union to those employees. I enjoy my job very much...it's a great place to work. In my spare time (which seems to be shrinking) I work on building my jewelry business. It's been in the "planning" phase the last two years, I think we're finally moving to the "starting" phase now.

Hayden is playing baseball...it's my favorite sport we've done so far. Last year he played soccer, which was okay too...and in the fall he played basketball for two weeks before we decided enough was enough...we've come to the conclusion that basketball probably won't be in our children's future. :) But baseball is going very well--we're all having a blast with it. Hayden hit his first home run last Friday...he was pretty excited about the whole thing--so was Mom...you'd have thought it was for the World Series or something...

Abby is our little princess...and I'm not just saying that--she is all girl...100% (except that she does like to play with worms and catipillars) but other than that she is one prissy pretty little girl. She is hilarious, too...the things that come out of her mouth keep us on our toes...that is for sure! We can't decide what exactly her "attitude" is...so we call it abbitude. It's her own 'tude that we can't really pinpoint what it is.

The funniest thing about our kids is that Hayden is EXACTLY like James...his demeanor, his likes/dislikes (even with food), everything except how Hayden runs (he gets that from his momma--sorry, Hayden)...and Abby is EXACTLY like me..in every way except sports...we think she's going to be more on the athletic side like her daddy...

Well, I better go for now...I'll post when something new comes up!
